We want every detailer to be able to use this site, including people who browse with a screen reader, a keyboard
only, a magnifier, or with low vision or colour blindness. This page states where we stand and how to tell us when
we have got something wrong.
What we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard
referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act in US practice and by the European Accessibility Act and EN 301
549 in Europe.
What we have done
- Every page works with the keyboard alone — no mouse required — and interactive elements are
reachable in a sensible order.
- Text is real text, not pictures of text, so it can be read aloud, translated, searched and enlarged.
- Pages use proper heading structure, landmarks and form labels so a screen reader can navigate them.
- Images carry alternative text, and decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology instead of being
read out as noise.
- Body text is dark on light with contrast above the 4.5:1 minimum, and colour is never the only way
information is conveyed — status is also given in words.
- The site reflows down to a 320 px screen without horizontal scrolling, and text can be zoomed to 200%
without losing content.
- The tools work without cookies and without accepting advertising, so nobody has to trade privacy for
access.
Where we know we fall short
We would rather tell you than pretend:
- Some tools produce printable documents and dense tables. They are readable, but a wide table
on a small screen still needs sideways scrolling within the table.
- The Detailing School uses a clickable car diagram. Every step is fully usable as text,
buttons and lists without touching the diagram, but the diagram itself is visual and does not convey extra
meaning to a screen reader beyond the written step.
- Third-party advertising is served by Google into ad slots. We do not control the markup or
the accessibility of an individual ad.
- Some PDF downloads are not fully tagged for screen readers. If you need one in an accessible
format, ask us and we will send it in another format at no charge.
Tell us and we will fix it
If any part of this site blocks you, email
autodetailingdevelopment@gmail.com with the page address and
what went wrong. There is also a Report a problem button under every tool. We aim to reply within five
business days and to fix genuine barriers as a priority. If you cannot use a tool, tell us what you needed from it
and we will get you the result another way.
How this statement is maintained
We test with keyboard navigation, browser zoom, and at screen widths from 320 px upward, and we re-check
pages when we change them. This statement is reviewed when the site changes materially and updated with the date
above. It reflects the site as it actually is, not an aspiration.
