Product cost & usage โ€” frequently asked questions

How to stop wasting chemicals and know your true cost per car. The questions detailers search for most.

How much ceramic coating do I need for one car?

A typical consumer coating uses roughly 5โ€“15 ml per vehicle depending on panel size and the product, so a 30 ml bottle usually does 2โ€“6 cars. Over-applying is the number-one waste โ€” and it causes high spots and streaks. Prime the applicator, use a few drops per section, and level it properly. Set your product's real numbers above to see your exact cost per car.

How do I calculate my chemical cost per car?

For each product, divide the bottle cost by how many cars the bottle does (bottle size รท how much you use per car), then add every product together. Example: a $60, 30 ml coating used at 5 ml/car costs $10 per car. This tool does the math for your whole lineup and totals it for the vehicle in front of you.

How do I stop wasting detailing product?

Three things: dilute concentrates correctly (see our Chemical Dilution Calculator) instead of free-pouring; measure coatings, polishes and compounds rather than eyeballing; and track usage per car so you catch the products you burn through too fast. Most waste comes from over-applying coatings and over-saturating pads and towels.

How do I know when to reorder chemicals?

Track how much is left and how many cars each bottle does. Enter your current stock above and the tool shows cars left per product and flags anything running low โ€” so you reorder before you run out in the middle of a job. Knowing your cars-per-bottle also makes buying in bulk an easy math decision.
